The Functional Macromolecular Laboratory is located in the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building at the University of Maryland, College Park. It contains a comprehensive set of characterization equipment for polymer mechanical, thermal, dielectric, conductive properties.
We conduct polymer research with application in several areas:
- Molecular Biosensors
- Drug Delivery Carriers
- Electrolytes for Lithium Batteries
- Hemostatic Agents
- Hydrogel Entrapment of Proteins
- Radio Frequency Devices
- Blood Compatible Coatings for Stents and Vascular Grafts
- Polymer physics and phase transitions in polymer systems
- Polymer morphology and structure
- Chain conformation and shape of synthetic and bio- polymers
- Neutron and X-ray scattering characterization of materials
- Transmission electron microscopy of polymers
