Yasmeen Faroqi-Shah, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Dr. Yasmeen Faroqi-Shah completed her PhD at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) working with Dr. Cynthia K. Thompson at the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Prior to this, Dr. Faroqi-Shah received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in hearing and speech sciences at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing in Mysore, India. After completion of her PhD and clinical certification in speech-language pathology, Dr. Faroqi-Shah joined the faculty of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland in 2005.

The long term goal of her research is to help persons with aphasia to achieve their maximum speaking potential by studying neural plasticity following speech-language therapy (especially on verbs and sentences). She is also interested in bilingualism and multicultural issues.
