Role Description

Position: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Consulting Intern

Overview 

Exponential Talent LLC is a boutique management consulting firm specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy development and implementation. We endeavor to help organizations become more inclusive workplaces where everyone can do extraordinary work. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated intern to support us in this mission. As a member of our team, you will support mid and senior level consultants with a variety of entry-level tasks. All work will be performed virtually, so it is required that you have a personal computer and access to a reliable internet connection.

Hours, Compensation, and Duration

This internship requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week, up to 30 hours a week based on your preferences and availability; compensation is $15/hour.

We will work with you to set a schedule that accommodates school or other commitments. Half of your committed hours must be between 9am-5pm PST. Hours can be adjusted around exam weeks and course deadlines. The target duration of this internship is 1 year.

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate virtually with our team – Respond to team members’ emails and IMs in a timely manner; keep your Google Calendar updated; meet with team members weekly on video calls to discuss project updates, learn to navigate our Shared Drive file system
  • Organize our digital DEI research archives via Zotero – Save and file new research by accurately filling out information fields to create new parent items; follow established guidelines to tag and digitally organize existing research
  • Tag PowerPoint slide collections with relevant information via Shufflrr Follow established guidelines to tag our presentation slides and increase the searchability of our archives
  • Enter and proofread demographic data – Read companies’ diversity disclosure reports or search government websites to identify a set of requested data points, and enter that data into a given spreadsheet (or proof previously entered data)
  • Support quality assurance processes for client deliverables – Follow established guidelines to check each deliverable unit (e.g., slide, page, sheet tab) for grammar readability, correct data or data interpretation, and consistent formatting
  • Assist with literature searches – Read academic papers or topic articles and summarize key points
  • Support client content development Working within PowerPoint or Google Slides, help brainstorm layouts that convey information clearly and in a visually appealing way
  • Support additional projects as they come up

Skills and Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Able to communicate frequently and proactively with team members about availability and project status
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently on assigned projects
  • Interest in learning about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in a business context
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Sheets, Slides, & Docs), such as creating and editing slides and tables.
  • Good attention to detail

Additional preferred skills:

  • Coursework in gender studies, LGBTQ+ studies, ethnic studies, sociology, psychology, or anthropology; or other work or volunteering experience in diversity, equity or inclusion.
  • Research skills (e.g., experience with literature searches)
  • Accurate real-time note-taking
  • Familiarity with using project management tools (e.g., Trello), research & file management tools (e.g., Zotero, Shufflrr, or Google Drive)
