Help Center is UMD’s student-run peer crisis and counseling intervention hotline. The application is open to all freshman and sophomores and is a great opportunity to volunteer and be a peer counselor! This position is open to all majors!

The Help Center offers both hotline and drop-in services to our students and to the greater College Park area. Our website is https://helpcenterumd.org/ and our Instagram is @umdhelpcenter. Sign up to schedule an interview to train to become a volunteer mental health counselor for our hotline!

You MUST be available for the following mandatory, in-person training dates:

Group Dynamics: Thursday, February 27th, 2025 @ 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Training Weekend Day 1: Saturday, March 1st, 2025 @ 10:00am to 3:00pm

Training Weekend Day 2: Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 @ 11:00am to 3:30pm

You can reach out for any accommodations you might need (for disability or otherwise) to fully participate in Training Weekend when decisions are released. **We recognize that these dates coincide with Ramadan, and will be providing accommodations to those who might need extra time to pray or take any breaks as needed. This will NOT affect our decision process.
