What Is the BSOS SRI?

The BSOS Summer Research Initiative is an 8-week, fully-funded program that aims to enhance diversity in the fields of social and behavioral sciences. Whether you’re interested in anthropology, psychology, sociology, or any of the participating disciplines, this program is your gateway to developing essential research skills, exploring doctoral pathways, and boosting your readiness for advanced academic training.

Program Highlights

Duration: June 2, 2025 – July 25, 2025
Participating Departments: African American and Africana Studies, Anthropology, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Economics, Geographical Sciences, Government & Politics, Hearing & Speech Sciences, Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, Psychology, and Sociology.
Benefits:
$3,000 stipend (before taxes)
$780 for weekend meals
Travel to/from College Park, Maryland
University housing and meals
Engaging program activities


Who Should Apply?

This program is designed for students from underrepresented backgrounds who aspire to excel in social and behavioral science research, practice, teaching, or policymaking.
