  1. Copy of the doctoral degree or, if applicable, proof that the applicant is in the process of completing the degree (e.g., close to their dissertation defence). Essential requirements Desirable requirements Technical experience Knowledge Bias correction Languages Publications Handling (preferably in R) of large databases Experience with human mobility and migration data based on digital footprints Bayesian statistics, gravitational models, and neural networks Computational science, statistics, and machine learning Experience in correcting biases in digital data N/A N/A N/A Proficiency in English CV with academic publications
  2. Curriculum vitae.
  3. Two samples of academic work, published or accepted, that are relevant to the theme of the call.
  4. A cover letter of no more than two pages, in which the applicant explains their reasons for participating in the call, details their experience and knowledge in data science, computer science, or computational social sciences, and expresses their commitment to working full-time on the project for the duration of the postdoctoral fellowship.
  5. Full name and contact details of two references.

Applicants who meet the required profile will be invited to an online interview, which will take place during the week of November 25th, 2024. The final decision will be communicated no later than December 7th, 2024.

The PICD Academic Committee reserves the right to modify or extend the deadlines of this call, if necessary.

Academic activities and expected outcomes
The publication of two scientific articles in international journals is expected. The first will focus on quantifying biases in intrametropolitan mobility data derived from digital footprints using machine learning techniques. The second article will focus on the implementation of a method to correct these biases and validate the obtained results. Both articles will be co-authored by the principal investigator of the project, the postdoctoral researcher, and external collaborators.

Additionally, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to participate in academic publication of other lines of research, organizing sessions of the Permanent Seminar on Data Science Applications and to teach at least one course per year in their area of expertise.
