Goldhaber Travel Grant Instructions

The Goldhaber awards are given by the Graduate School for travel to professional conferences. They require that a matching award be funded by the Department. This year, the Department budget can support up to 10 Goldhaber awards, which is the same number of awards approved last year. These will be awarded on a first come first serve basis to students who meet the requirements of the Goldhaber and our Department’s own internal requirements, which include:

  •  A registered, degree-seeking graduate student in good standing
  • Presenting a paper or poster at a professional conference
    • For international travel you must be the first author on a paper, no poster
  • Send the completed application to Nicole Amonett no less than 30 days before the start of the conference
  • Students may receive only one Goldhaber award prior to candidacy and only one award after candidacy
  • Students may not use a Goldhaber for international travel more than once during their time in the program

As the year progresses, we will closely monitor expenditures and, if possible, may make adjustments to the total number of awards we can fund.

Please make a note of these requirements as you plan your travel for the 2025 to 2026 year. As a reminder, all University travel must be approved in Concur and must follow all University travel policies and procedures.
