Assistant Professor of Sociology

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Sociology at Dickinson College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology faculty position starting in Fall 2025. We seek a colleague who specializes in law and society, with expertise in specific interdisciplinary areas of scholarship of such as mass incarceration, access to justice, comparative punishment, or similar issues. Research funds and mentoring opportunities are also available to assist new faculty to flourish.

The standard teaching load is five teaching credit hours per academic year. An ideal candidate would have the capacities to teach introduction to Sociology, the senior capstone seminar, as well as electives related to critical criminology, and/or law, policy and social justice. We welcome applications from scholars employing any research methodology in their work. In addition to our foundational courses in theory and research methods, our curriculum deepens students’ knowledge of gender, race, culture, religion and U.S. and global inequities as they intersect with the field of sociology. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.

Assistant/Associate Professor of Maternal Health and Demography

The Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Maternal Health and Demography. We seek an innovative scholar to make significant contributions in the areas of maternal health and demographic methods in a diverse, multidisciplinary department with a long history of excellence in education and research.

Candidates should demonstrate significant research and teaching activity at and around the intersection of reproductive health, maternal health, adolescent health, fertility, population health, the impact of sex and gender on health, and social determinants of health, particularly the impact of racial and ethnic disparities on maternal health. Visiting Assistant Professor – Criminology & Justice Studies – (24001181)

The Department of Criminology at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites outstanding applicants for a one semester, non-tenure, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences starting January, 2025. The successful candidate will be able to teach: Judicature (CRI 201), Policing (CRI 200), and Introduction to Criminology (CRI 100).

Candidates will teach 4 sections across 2 anticipated preps on a Tuesday/Friday schedule. There are no service or research expectations with this position. Candidates with the expertise to explore race and racism, whiteness, and/or anti-racism in their courses are preferred.

The successful candidate will have a MA, Ph.D., or be ABD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field, with demonstrated and prior experience teaching in-person college-level courses. Assistant Professor of Sociology in the area of critical criminology

Job Summary
The Sociology Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in the field of critical criminology, broadly defined to include law, punishment, and justice. Initial appointment to this position will be for a term of 4 years, beginning fall semester of 2025, and will carry the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities
The incumbent will teach the standard teaching load (4.5 courses per year) in any area of critical criminology. Teaching responsibilities include introduction to sociology and a range of courses at all levels of the curriculum, including capstones and seminars. The ability to teach sociological theory or sociological methods is desirable, as are courses not currently represented in the curriculum.

The Department of Sociology at Colby College is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor starting September 1, 2025. Colby is a highly selective liberal arts college in a spectacular setting with a rich sociological history: it was here that Albion Small taught some of the first sociology courses in the country.

Qualifications
We are searching for an early career scholar who aims to make an impact through high-profile research, excellence in teaching, and meaningful student engagement. Areas of specialization are open, although we particularly welcome applications from candidates able to offer courses in the sociology of race and ethnicity. The ideal candidate will have a publication track record, ample experience with teaching—including course design—and a record of success advising and mentoring individuals from groups under-represented in higher education.
