The National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE) is a growing and busy research consortium with current federal and state funding and potential future private and industry funding. Its audiences therefore are many: Department of Homeland Security and other federal, state, and local government leaders and elected officials; the FBI and other law enforcement entities; the University of Nebraska at Omaha administration plus University of Nebraska system leadership; researchers and communicators from the institutions of higher education in the NCITE consortium; undergraduate and graduate students from UNO and consortium-wide; and the public.
We seek a Research Associate to support NCITE faculty on federally funded projects researching terrorism prevention and counterterrorism. The research associate will provide leadership and autonomy in development of specific tasks across an interdisciplinary team of research faculty. We are particularly interested in a colleague who could help advance countering terrorism and targeted violence, bolstering suspicious activity reporting, and improving prevention efforts although the exact scope of work is dependent on research experience and interests. A successful candidate will work with NCITE faculty and students to take a lead role in supporting and executing tasks including management of project deliverables, be productive in writing manuscripts and reports, and presenting research outcomes.
The successful candidate will apply domain knowledge working collaboratively in support supplementary NCITE terrorism and counterterrorism research projects providing scientific reviews of non-assigned project outcomes. Other duties include mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborating with NCITE government and industry partners. Continue reading
