Become a Violence Intervention Ambassador

There’s still time to sign-up for Violence Intervention Ambassador Training!

The VIA program is a 11 hour, four session training that will equip you with tools to recognize, respond to, and prevent power-based violence on our campus, and in our world. ⁠The training will cover topics including interpersonal and systemic violence, bystander intervention, supporting a survivor, social change, student activism, and self-care.⁠ Completion of the program will provide you with a VIA Certification, volunteer and leadership opportunities with CARE, professional development, and intervention skills, and a community of students passionate about this issue.⁠

Purple Lights Night

CARE to Stop Violence Outreach Peers welcome the campus community to PLN. Join us to learn about relationship violence, its impact on students, types of abuse, and what you can do to help someone who has been impacted. More information to come.

The Clothesline Project

The Clothesline Project | October 9th, 10am-3pm | McKeldin Mall

The Clothesline Project is a visual representation of the impacts of sexual and relationship violence on the campus community. This event from the CARE Office provides community members with an opportunity to confront the issue of power-based violence by creating and displaying their own messages on a shirt during DVAM.

DVAM Resource Fair

DVAM Resource Fair | October 4th, 12-2pm | McKeldin Mall

The UMD Sexual Assault Prevention Committee will host the DVAM Resource Fair to promote awareness and services related to power-based violence prevention and response on campus. Attendees can browse tables and meet with representatives from various organizations. This will be the kick-off event for the campus-wide DVAM calendar and groups will be able to advertise their upcoming events to the campus community.
