Here are a few items of note for digital curation that we had our eyes on this week:
- Endangered Data Week will happen on the week of Feb 26, and the UMD libraries will sponsor a series of related events to raise awareness about the challenges and needs of endangered, digital data: see more here on the Endangered Data site.
- Digital preservation researchers will explore and develop an “emulation as a service” platform, which will allow for the access to obsolete software environments and packages, with the hopes of providing access to digital archives. See more here from the YaleNews. (h/t Lauren W.)
- Older news from January, but still notable: the PTAB (Primary Trustworthy Digital Repository Audity Body), which is situated as the official ISO 16363 certifying body (i.e., the TRAC auditors), reports it has completed its first certification of a trusted repository: http://www.iso16363.org/first-repository-in-the-world-has-been-awarded-iso-16363-certification/.
- Last Friday, the NEH held an open project directors meeting for those who received grants to work on digital projects in the last year, lots of stuff on Twitter at the hashtag #ODHatTen. Meeting announcement here. Great recap from Jennifer Howard here.
- This week, the Code4Lib conference is happening in DC, you can follow along on Twitter at the hashtag #c4l18.
