Dr. Emily Hockey Successfully Defends Thesis!
Dr. Hockey is officially the first PhD student to graduate from the Dodson Group. She defended her doctoral dissertation on April 25th, 2024, and will be undertaking an NRC Research Associate Programs postdoc at Eglin Air Force Research Laboratory after graduating in May. Congratulations Emily!
Dasha Passes Candidacy Exam for Chemical Physics Program
Dasha Kisuryna is now the third member of the group to have passed candidacy as of October 17th, 2023. She is the first PhD candidate in the group from the chemical physics program. Congratulations Dasha!
DOE Early Career Award
The Dodson group has received funding from the DOE Office of Science to study nuclear-spin isomer enrichment using low-temperature materials.

Shannon Ganley was awarded the “College Chemistry Achievement Awards” from the Chemical Society of Washington. This award is given to outstanding chemistry and biochemistry majors from colleges and universities in the DMV area.
Emily Awarded Dissertation Fellowship
Emily Hockey was awarded for the “Wylie Dissertation Fellowship” for AY 2023-2024! This award provides doctoral candidates full time support in the late writing stages of their thesis.
Thomas Recognized by UMD Grad School
Thomas Howard was selected for the “UMD Graduate School’s Outstanding Research Assistant Award for AY 2022-23”! The award conveys the honor of being recognized as among the top 2% of campus Graduate Assistants in a given year.
ACS PRF Funding
The Dodson Group has received funding to study hydrocarbon radical reaction intermediates using matrix-isolation spectroscopy!
Korina Awarded Maryland Summer Scholars
Korina has been selected for the Maryland Summer Scholars to receive funding for her summer research on para-hydrogen

New Ion Instrument Arrives August 2021
The new ion instrument is finally here! This ion source/trap/mass analyzer was custom designed by Ardara Technologies for our astrochemistry studies of ion/molecule reactions.
Lab Move-In Day 2021
The Dodson group christened its new digs on January 11, 2021! We are so excited to get to work!
