*** PLEASE NOTE

Due to low numbers of in person participants to the meeting, we will no longer meet on the Shady Grove campus.  We are planning to hold the meeting in a reduced format on Monday, April 25th on the College Park campus of the University of Maryland. This will allow us to better manage the meeting in a hybrid format.   For those of you who have registered to participate in person, we will soon reimburse your registration fees.  For those of you who were registered to participate virtually, we will be happy to host you in person (at no extra charge) if you change your mind.

The goal of the 2021 winter M3 meeting is to bring together participants from academia, government (local, state, and federal), and industry to build connections and brainstorm ideas for potential regional initiatives in the microbiome space.

The meeting will entail a mixture of invited speakers, contributed “lightning” presentations, and poster sessions.

The meeting will also include breakout sessions meant to foster interaction and the exchange of ideas. Breakout sessions will focus on topics such as: organizational structures that can support regional cross-talk between industry, academia, and government; effective implementation of microbiome-related clinical studies; workforce development needs for the regional microbiome community; and others. We encourage the participants to suggest further topics for discussion.

Although we strongly encourage those who are comfortable doing so to attend in person to facilitate networking and interaction, the sessions will also be streamed to registered participants via Zoom.

Our goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for all program participants and attendees. Participants at in-person meetings and events must be fully vaccinated. In addition, we will follow the state, county, and venue public health measures in place at the time of the meeting.

This event is sponsored in part by the University of Maryland College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available.
