Risk and Protective Factors During The Perinatal Period

The aim of this study was to contribute to knowledge about perinatal trauma and depression (i.e., depression that occurs during pregnancy or within the first 12 months following delivery) and their impact on maternal functioning in lowincome, African American women, as well as the health and developmental outcomes of their young infants.

Buffering Children from Toxic Stress through Attachment-Based Intervention: An Early Head Start-University Partnership

This was a randomized trial of the impact of a supplemental attachment-based parenting program to home-based Early Head Start – the “Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up” (ABC) intervention on maternal parenting and toddler outcomes.

Caregivers Helping to Advance Toddler Talk

This project entailed the implementation and evaluation of a group-based intervention for low-income parents and their toddlers that focused on promoting young children’s language development.

Early Steps to School Success

This was an evaluation of Early Steps to School Success, a language development and pre-literacy program that provides services to children and their families through home visitation and parent groups.

Assessing the Quality of Foster Family Care

The purpose of this project was to contribute to the literature on foster family care by: 1) examining the characteristics of foster parents across domains; 2) examining environmental characteristics of the home; and 3) assessing the functioning of children in the foster care system.

 

 

HAPPI: Healthy Attachment Promotion in Parents and Infants

The goal of this project was to enhance parent-child interaction among high-risk families enrolled in Early Head Start home-based services.
