Currently, Cohort 38 is working its way through BMGT/ENES490H, the capstone course of the QUEST Program. Going on site visits is one of the best ways for teams to understand their clients and gain greater insights into the problem they are tasked with. I caught up with some of the 490H teams who have gone on site visits this semester to hear about what they’ve learned.
One team from Cohort 38 went to the Dixon Valve and Coupling Company headquarters, where they were able to see the machinery that is important to their project.
According to Daphne Ranti, a member of the team, “It was interesting to tour the manufacturing plant because it was our first time seeing this type of machinery and the processes in person.” They were able to gain great insight into their project based on this in-person experience!
Another capstone team went on a site visit to Total Wine and More in Laurel, MD last month (pictured above). They are working with the company for their 490H project on spirits-direct sales versus national brand sales when it comes to tequila.
In order to learn more about the in-person experience of a customer buying tequila and how the store might convert that sale from national brand to spirits-direct, the team went on a store tour and spoke to many employees. Along the way, they got to taste the featured spirits and tequila and learn more about the overall store structure!
We wish the best of luck to all the students of BMGT/ENES490H as they move closer and closer to the QUEST Conference on December 7th!
