Leaves are turning bright oranges, yellows, and reds. Cozy sweaters and comfy sweatpants are making their way back into the wardrobe rotation. Midterm season is finally coming to an end. Fall is finally upon us, and what better way to get into the Fall spirit than by grabbing a pumpkin spice latte and taking a look at what QUEST students have planned this Thanksgiving break! Whether it’s spending time with family and friends, or just catching up on some much-needed rest, this break is a time every busy college student looks forward to. Here, we’re going to dive into what just a couple of the QUEST students are getting up to this Thanksgiving.

Lucia Chacon, a Finance and International Business major in Cohort 45, is looking forward to going home this Thanksgiving break. She’s excited to help her mom cook up a delicious feast on that fateful Thursday. When asked what she was most excited for, she said, “I’m mostly excited to make my dog his little Thanksgiving plate, he’s just as much a part of the family as I am!” And of course, the Thanksgiving traditions don’t end on Thursday. In fact, Lucia is excited to participate in the chaos that is Black Friday. For her, the chaos of crowded stores and frantic deal-hunting is nostalgic. And of course, it’s simply the best time to find some of those important holiday gifts at a discount.

Similarly, Avanti Prabakaran, a Civil and Environmental Engineering major in Cohort 43, will also be going home this break. However, being all the way from Stratford, Connecticut, they have a much longer journey home. Avanti is looking forward to their annual Friendsgiving potluck, a tradition that celebrates gratitude and togetherness with the people you choose to be a part of your life. When asked about their favorite Thanksgiving foods, Avanti said that they love pecan and apple pie. On the other hand, when asked for a Thanksgiving hot take, they said, “I feel like we as a society can move on from green bean casserole.” Controversial opinion or not, Avanti’s take is sure to spark some lively debate at their Friendsgiving dinner table.
Meanwhile, some students are taking their celebrations abroad. Meilin Yuan and Marvi Shroff, both in Cohort 42, are traveling to London and Prague to visit friends Eileen Chen and Melanie Hwan in Cohort 41. What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than an international QUEST friends reunion? Meilin mentioned that the group is “excited to reunite and explore new cities together!” For example, in London, they plan to explore famous landmarks, enjoy high tea, and take a Christmas lights walk to see all the beauty the city has to offer at night. In Prague, they look forward to walking the narrowest street and trying all sorts of local foods. “For Thanksgiving, we’re excited to just spend the time with friends we haven’t seen in a while and get a nice dinner in Prague,” said Yuan.

Whether they’re traveling across the world, or heading back home, QUEST students are in for an amazing break. Plenty of time to rest, relax, and recharge before the end of the semester. No matter what the rest of the QUESTees get up to, there’s sure to be plenty more stories (and leftovers) to share. Happy Thanksgiving!
