2021 Annual Forum – The Future of EverythingHosted by The Center of Global Business

Join the 3rd Annual Forum, a discussion with Mauro Guillén, author of “2030: How Today’s Biggest Trends Will Collide and Reshape the Future of Everything”. Mauro F. Guillén is one of the most original thinkers at the Wharton School, where he holds the Zandman Professorship in International Management and teaches in its flagship Advanced Management Program and many other courses for executives, MBAs, and undergraduates. He combines his training as a sociologist at Yale and as a business economist in his native Spain to methodically identify and quantify the most promising opportunities at the intersection of demographic, economic, and technological developments.

Come to the springtime event to hear about the global transformations that are underway and how to think about their impacts using “peripheral vision”.

Community Service Event with a Wider Circle – Sponsored by the Smith PTMBAA

The Smith School will partner with A Wider Circle to hold an Elevator Pitch Workshop designed to help A Wider Circle participants practice their networking skills and personal branding pitch. As a Smith student, you will be paired with a participant from A Wider Circle, where you will use guiding questions (provided to you in advance) to help your participant craft and improve their elevator pitch, personal brand, and general networking skills. There will be a 20 minute group discussion and de-brief at the end.

The Smith Analytics Consortium is hosting the second annual Datathon, a 2-week data-focused competition. Teams of 3-5 students will have an opportunity to use their problem solving, analytics, and data visualization skills to build a market entry business case for a renewable energy company in Maryland. Join the core consulting series on March 29th  March 31st and April 1st   to hone the skills needed to succeed in the Datathon and meet team members. 

*Global Marketing Virtual Internship Program
Application Deadline: Friday, April 23, 2021 – Program dates, early June to early August, 2021
Trained students provide marketing and website globalization support. Students are advised and guided by Maryland Smith marketing faculty to ensure sound recommendations and quality work. Potential projects for students include: Website optimization for international eCommerce, website tracking and analytics, search engine optimization, website localization (creating or enhancing a website for a specific country), and global social media strategy and analysis. Big Ideas Night: Job Search

That’s put a devastating percentage of people out of work—and made the search for a great job even more urgent. The whole process from resume-writing, interviewing, and negotiating can be mystifying – even more so when you’re trying to find work you enjoy. Join this event for a special Big Ideas Night. There will be actionable tips for grabbing the career you deserve—and how to succeed once you get there. The panel includes: Porter Braswell (Let Them See You), Katharine Brooks (What Color Is Your Parachute? Job-Hunter’s Workbook), Steve Dalton (The Job Closer), and Kirk Snyder (Finding Work You Love), in a panel discussion moderated by Antonio Neves (Stop Living on Autopilot).
