*The Transformative Power of Inclusive Marketing
American Marketing Association – DC
Wednesday, April 06, 2022
12:00 pm- 1:00 pm | Virtual
Fees: Student Members Free, Non-Members – $10
We’ve all been told that we need to niche down and identify a specific audience to be successful right? But what people don’t talk so much about is the price you pay for creating content for a narrow demographic: inclusivity and growth. Limiting how you think about your audience marginalizes groups of people and can sabotage your success.
There’s a better way. Broaden your reach, deepen consumer and community connections, and even drive positive social change with inclusive marketing.
After this session you’ll be able to:
- Identify and avoid the harmful biases that undermines your efforts
- Transform how you understand your audience and create profiles that don’t rely on demographics or even general psychographics
- Craft emotionally-driven stories that are accessible and authentic
*DESIGN THINKING 101
The Grid
Tuesday, March 29, 2022
12:00 pm–1:00 pm | Virtual
Fees: Students are Free!
Facing a challenge, but don’t know where to get started? Join Dr. Jenny Owens, Assistant Dean in the Graduate School and Executive Director of the Grid, to learn more about design thinking, a creative approach to interactive systems development that aims to make systems usable and useful by focusing on the users, their needs and requirements, and by applying human factors/usability knowledge and techniques. Design thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to challenge assumptions, redefine problems, and revolves around a deep interest in developing an understanding of the people for whom we’re designing for and with.
