Changing Conditions of Faculty Life and Possible Roles for Emeritus and Emerita Faculty
UMEEA also held its annual meeting following the discussion with Provost Rice. UMEEA Steering Committee chair Gerald Miller reported that the association was formed six years ago to provide a continued connection to our university and its academic community for emeriti/ae faculty members. We initially sponsored in-person events on campus and with the advent of Covid, we switched to zoom events. We anticipate pure zoom events with some combined in-person plus zoom events in the future. UMEEA recently joined the Association of Retirement Organizations in Higher Education, a national organization. It provides many resources for developing broader programs that we intend to utilize.
