March is National Nutrition Month and there’s no better time to start your journey towards a healthier diet and lifestyle!

Upcoming event: Please join us at the Lunch Bunch on Thursday March 09, 2017 at 12:30pm in Room 4230 to find out the winners of the 4 week Happy Fit Walk Challenge!

 Save the date: Friday, March 31st at 2:30pm. Chef Trevor will be preparing a healthy dish and the first 25 to arrive will receive the second edition of the USG cookbook!!

Submit your recipes to usg-wellness@umd.edu by Friday, March 24th to have them featured in the USG cookbook.

Did you know…?

  • Many canned foods retain as much nutrient value as their fresh or frozen counterparts
  • Choosing canned fruits, vegetables, beans, and meats can lighten the burden on your pocketbook and ensure these healthy foods are on hand in a pinch (Source: www.eatright.org)

Log on to your Lifework Connect portal www.lifeworkconnect.com for a variety of awesome nutrition resources. In the recipe finder, check out the recipe of the month for “Chipotle Bean Burritos”.

     Click on the “Nutrition” tab in the portal and you can access:

  1. “Talk to a Dietitian/Nutritionist” – Feel like you need a little extra guidance and support on your journey to a healthier diet? Send a message to a registered dietician or nutritionist for some expert advice. You can expect a response within 48 hours.
  2. “My Nutritional Needs” – Nutrients are the body’s source of fuel! Make sure you are getting enough nutrients by entering personal details to receive customized nutrient recommendations.
  3. “Recipes” – Mix up your meals and practice your cooking skills by trying some new healthy recipes. Search our database for delicious recipes that fit your own personal food preferences.
  4. “Choose Meal Plan” – Find a meal plan that fits your lifestyle! There are several options, including vegan, vegetarian, heart healthy, diabetic, and so much more!
  5. “Food Log” – Keep yourself accountable and make sure you’re staying on track by using this tool to log your meals.
