Come Celebrate Earth Day 2017 with the USG Strong Wellness Team

Earth Day is a day to celebrate earth, appreciate nature and learn ways to protect our environment. Want to get involved? Save the dates for all the upcoming events listed below:

  • Wednesday, April 19th (9:00am-12:00pm) –  IIBR will have Shred IT on-site at their loading dock and they have invited us to take advantage of this service. Do a little Spring cleaning and stop by!
  • Thursday, April 20th (9:00am – 11:00am)  – the USG Garden is back in action. This year the garden will be manages by Michael Sheehan, a student in UMD’s R.H. Smith School of Business. You can learn more about Michael and his edible ecosystem projects http://www.thecitizensofearth.org/
  • Thursday, April 20th (11:30am and 1:30pm) –  Ever wondered what’s inside the IBBR building? Join Greenhouse Manager Frank Coker on a IBBR Greenhouse tour and learn about all the things growing inside it. To register for the tour, please email usg-wellness@umd.edu
  • Friday, April 21st (10:00am – 11:30am) – Join USG and IBBR for the annual campus cleanup. Meet us on the Boardwalk. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. IIBR will weigh everything we’ve collected and help us discard the items
  • Wetlands Tour: Did you know that the USG campus sits on several acres of wetlands? We are working with Doctoral & Graduate students from College Park’s Department of Environmental Science and Technology to take us on a tour of the wetlands. Bring your boots! (Date & Time TBD)

All week the Green Grove Café will be featuring carbon neutral and earth-friendly foods. Don’t forget to stop by!
