Emails that employees are receiving from UNUM announcing an open enrollment period from February 1 to March 1 are legitimate.

The first of two emails from UNUM are being sent to employees that are NOT currently enrolled in the UNUM Long Term Disability plan or the Group Term Life plan. Subsequent emails from UNUM announcing their open enrollment will be sent to all eligible employees, including those that are currently enrolled in the plans. The special enrollment period will allow employees to enroll in the LTD and enroll or increase coverage in the Group Life (up to $100,000) with no medical statement required.
