It’s #WearRedDay

Help bring attention to heart disease awareness by wearing red on Friday, February 7th. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among Americans, especially women. Wear red, snap a pic and tag us at @uatshadygrove.

USG Strong’s Step Challenge was a huge success! Together the participants walked a total of 9,266,719 steps. That’s over 4,000 miles and 360,000 calories. Congratulations to our winners!

Take Your Child To Work Day

The USG Strong Wellness Team will once again be hosting Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 25, 2019. The itinerary for the day will be structured around the ages of the participants so please be sure to list your child‘s age in the comments section. We are also looking for volunteers to offer an extra set of hands day of. Register here!

While all children are welcome to participate, Take Your Child to Work Dat is the most fun for kids aged 2 and up. Children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews etc. are all welcome!

Financial Wellness Lunch N’ Learn

Please join us on Thursday, April 04, 2019 at noon – 1 pm for our spring semester Financial Wellness Lunch N’ Learn in Building III, Boardroom 3156. Generally, a positive financial future requires management strategies and proactive planning. During this class you learn the relationship between financial decisions made today for future financial freedom and quality of life. Course topics will include; Credit and Debt Management. We hope that after the seminar, you will:
  • Understand the pros and cons of credit
  • Review credit scores
  • Learn about specific types of credit
  • Learn about rebuilding credit
  • Learn what it means to manage debt and resources
This is an RSVP only event, please sign up and if you are not able to make it, kindly inform us, so that we can add others from the waiting list. Lunch will be provided. Feel free to bring questions and topics you will like to see in the future.

Blood Drive at USG

Our nation has seen a number of catastrophes in recent times, which is why we are giving you the opportunity to help. This March Give The Gift Of Life! USG Strong, University of Maryland Association of Nursing Students (UMANS) and Nurses for Global Health have teamed up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive to help build up life-saving supplies in our area. 

While walk-ins are welcomed, to expedite the process, we encourage that you schedule your appointment and fill out the necessary paperwork ahead of time. You can download and use the Blood Donor App or use the link below to sign up directly.

Spread the Love this February!!

Join USG Strong and the USG Awards Committee in spreading the love this February. Let your co-workers know they are doing a great job by filling out an appreciation card. We have boxed and cards in different areas of the campus such as:

  • Building I – 3rd-floor kitchen
  • Building II – 1st floor CES Front Desk
  • Building III – 1st floor SAS kitchen
  • Building III – 3rd and 4th-floor kitchenettes
  • The Commons

Fill out a card and drop it in the box! All postcards will be distributed at the end of the month.
