Take Your Child To Work Day
The USG Strong Wellness Team will once again be hosting Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 25, 2019. The itinerary for the day will be structured around the ages of the participants so please be sure to list your child‘s age in the comments section. We are also looking for volunteers to offer an extra set of hands day of. Register here!

While all children are welcome to participate, Take Your Child to Work Dat is the most fun for kids aged 2 and up. Children, grandchildren, nieces/nephews etc. are all welcome!
UMCP – Financial Literacy Month Workshops
UHR Office of Employee Benefits is hosting a number of workshops focusing on Budgeting, College Savings, Investing, Estate Planning, Social Security, and Pre-Retirement Processes. Registration will be available at www.training.umd.edu.
April 5th – State Pension Pre-Retirement Seminar – Open to employees who are in State Pension Plan. Learn about retiring under the State Pension System, pension options, retiree heath benefits, and Medicare.

Tuition Remission – Summer 2019
The Department of University Human Resources (UHR) Office of Employee Benefits is now accepting tuition remission forms for Summer Sessions I and II 2019. Employees must have an active, approved appointment with a start date no later than May 28, 2019, for Summer Session I and July 8, 2019, for Summer Session II in order for the employee to be eligible for tuition remission.
UMCP CAMPUS REQUESTS:
Application for tuition remission is completed online. The approved form(s) must be submitted through the TR-Elf electronic form system to the designated departmental TR-Elf approver by June 3, 2019 for Summer Session I and July 15, 2019 for Summer Session II. Forms received after the deadline will not be processed.
If the applicant is requesting tuition remission for both summer sessions, TWO separate TR-Elf forms must be completed. Continue reading

As a feature of the UMD Family Care Resources & Referral Service, the University Human Resources sponsors free eldercare consultations. March’s Lynda Course
Critical thinking is the ability to think reflectively and independently in order to make thoughtful decisions. By focusing on root-cause issues, critical thinking helps you avoid future problems that can result from your actions. In this course, leadership trainer and expert Mike Figliuolo outlines a series of techniques to help you develop your critical thinking skills. He reveals how to define the problem you’re trying to solve and then provides some critical thinking tools such as blowing up the business, asking the 5 whys and the 7 so whats, exploring the 80/20 rule, and more. He also provides guidance on how to develop the skill across your whole team.
