Winter Term: Registration for the Winter Term began in October. There is no obligation to register for a winter course (personally I think you all deserve a break!), but if you do, here are a few things to be aware of:

  1. One day in the Winter Term = One week in a normal semester: You only have 15 class sessions – so every day you’ve got reading and homework that you’d normally have a week to do. Manage your time (visiting family, part-time jobs, and schoolwork) carefully.
  2. Online does not mean “easy” : Many winter courses are online. Some online courses require you to be in front of a computer at specified times; others do not; and the balance of online and between-time assignments can vary between classes.
    1. Please contact course instructors in advance if you have questions. You can find their contact information on the UMD Directory.
  3. Finally : Payment for the Winter term is due immediately upon registration. Failure to pay gets you dropped from the class and from the University.
