A dynamic young man with Down syndrome, Adrian, is looking for a job coach or mentor to support his work on campus with TerpsEXCEED. This employee’s responsibilities include participating with and supporting Adrian in presentation design and delivery; podcast and newsletter production; administrative tasks; promotional appearances on and off campus; and advocacy for people with disabilities.

The prospective candidate should have the ability to encourage the development of good problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of, and/or interest in, disability issues is a strong plus.

Responsibilities:

  •  Provide personalized support and guidance in the workplace.
  • Encourage the development of problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Support in designing and delivering presentations to undergraduate students.
  •  Facilitate the production of podcasts and newsletters, including content creation, planning, and editing.
  • Attend weekly TerpsEXCEED staff meetings and synthesize meeting notes
  • Accompany the participant on promotional appearances both on and off-campus.
  • Monitor employee progress.
  • Collaborate with the employee’s support team, attending biweekly team meetings and consulting with team members as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Empathetic and patient, with a genuine interest in fostering the personal and professional growth of others.
  • Prior experience in mentoring, coaching, or working with individuals with disabilities.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of disability issues and a commitment to promoting inclusion.
  • Experience with producing podcasts or newsletters.
