Speaker Bios:
Delegate Emily Shetty has spent her career in public service and advocacy, starting with serving as a legislative aide to a Member of Congress from Brooklyn, NY. She is currently a member of the Maryland General Assembly, serving in her second term, where she is the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Social Services, and the Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Houses Delegation. Shetty teaches the UMD Fellow Program’s Civic Leadership and Human Services Seminar.
Shetty has been active in local advocacy and organizing for over ten years. She served as the Vice-chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Party, founded the Advocacy Committee within the Woman’s Democratic Club of Montgomery County, and served on the board of Action Committee for Transit, where she advocated for improvements to pedestrian safety and local transportation options.
Molly McKee-Seabrook, Associate Director of Government Relations at UMD. Seabrook worked as a legislative aide for state Sen. Bill Ferguson (D-Baltimore City) before becoming his chief of staff for eight years. In her current position with the University of Maryland she advocates for bills on behalf of the school and the university system.
A Student Panel of UMD Fellows Program Graduate Assistants, Jamal Oakman, Jen Solan, and Adam Cullen will also speak about their experiences interning at MGA.

THE WORLD GOES TO MARYLAND
START will be hosting its first ever (very small scale) Career Fair this fall, on Wednesday, October 25, 11-2pm at our office in Riverdale, MD, and we would love to have BSOS students join us. Below you’ll find a bit more info on the event, please feel free to share with any student groups within the college (undergrad and grad) that you think would be interested in attending!
The event is meant to be a small-scale career fair event to provide a more intimate setting for students to interact with the employers. Given the number of RSVPs we’ve already received, we have space for 50-75 more attendees. The registration link below will remain open until we reach capacity. Students can learn more about the employers and their hiring needs and register to attend here (or via the link below).

During the course of their careers, special agents carry out assignments in both investigations and protection and may be assigned to multiple duty stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. Duties include: conducting criminal investigations pertaining to financial obligations of the United States, providing protection for various protectees, planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.
