This position is located in the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), Homeland Security Branch (HSB), Analytical Services Division, Major Investigations Branch (MIB).  It works in direct support of MPD, Investigative Services Bureau (ISB).  The primary purpose of the position is to collect, analyze and coordinate a variety of complex intelligence data and prepare comprehensive reports to support ongoing investigations.  

This Investigative Analyst position is covered under the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) bargaining unit and you may be required to pay an agency fee through direct payroll deductions.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • With minimal supervision or oversight, gathers, researches, analyzes, evaluates and develops complex investigative intelligence information to support detectives/agents in the conduct of criminal investigations. Prepares comprehensive investigative reports.
  • Through use of a variety of electronic databases, identifies, interprets, and reports information needed to locate suspects, determine asset ownership, and establish associations between entities.
  • Coordinates investigative analysis work of major, high-priority cases which are central to agency objectives; coordinates verification of data; and conducts meetings and briefings.
  • Provides accurate and timely criminal intelligence to detectives by providing information from law enforcement databases to develop possible suspects and vehicles of interest to determine path of travel to and from the offense.
  • Examines and analyzes social media and telephone data to establish patterns and identify new leads.
  • Formulates information source search strategies, reviewing data to identify patterns and relationships across financial, criminal, public record, and other information.
  • Extracts and organizes complex statistical data and queries databases for intelligence data and background information based upon identified parameters, retrieving pertinent data in appropriate output format and disseminating to command staff and detectives.
  • Prepares maps and graphs and applies advanced mapping techniques to provide research, analysis and investigative findings in a visual format.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations regarding computer software and hardware related to investigative analysis and data manipulation.
  • Creates presentations and other media materials for briefings to the executive level staff and the Mayor’s Office.
  • Establishes working relationships with counterparts in local, state and Federal law enforcement agencies for the purpose of exchanging pertinent information and providing free flow of information.
  • Represents the branch and MPD authoritatively to key officials and organizations.
  • Provides administrative support and assistance to the Investigative Services Bureau investigators and detectives in accomplishing activities for their assigned cases. Drafts analytical overview and timelines of cases.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Duties:

sentencing trends are evolving, requiring substantial input from an informed, prepared group of advocates. Our paralegal plays a critical role in serving our clientele and producing information and data in support of our mission, both pretrial and at sentencing. For these reasons, in addition to traditional paralegal tasks, this position may participate in fact investigation of alleged criminal conduct, investigation of mitigation witnesses and evidence, and sentencing advocacy. Specific tasks may include:


● Assist attorneys with review of Body Worn Camera and other video and audio evidence.
● Assist attorneys in retrieving and reviewing discovery and submitting discovery responses.
● Communicate with clients and witnesses.
● Interview potential witnesses for bond and sentencing hearings.
● Collection and review of clients’ records.

Amazon is looking for college students with high potential who are ready to own their impact in Amazon Operations as a Loss Prevention Intern.

As a Loss Prevention Intern, you will have the opportunity to OWN YOUR IMPACT by leading the effort to efficiently and effectively provide security services and asset protection (to include people, buildings, equipment, data, & intellectual property) in a designated fulfillment center (FC).

The Loss Prevention Intern is a key member of the Security and Loss Prevention organization, reporting to the Loss Prevention Manager whom is responsible for the facility and aids interns in a project benefiting the team. The Loss Prevention Intern may also assist the cross functional teams within the site including Human Resources, Finance, Corporate Audit, Security Services-Retail/CS/Corp, WW Physical Security Systems and Design, and Inventory Control Quality Assurance.

The Loss Prevention Intern’s primary responsibility will be supporting the efforts of the Loss Prevention team in the implementation of standardized, cost effective and efficient security services program for their assigned FC(s). As a member of the AMER Region Loss Prevention Team, you will be responsible for leading the effort to efficiently and effectively provide security services and asset protection to protect People, Product and Data within your site (or Region). You will execute this through daily partnerships with critical site, and regional, leaders across Operations, Workplace Health & Safety (WHS), PxT, Employee Relations, RME and more. You will be an expert across multiple operational disciplines in order to drive efficiency and loss reduction efforts. Amazon’s LP and shrink reduction efforts are supported by the Global Security Operations (GSO) team through the creation of an overall global strategy designed to optimize resources and leverage technology to mitigate product loss and maintain customer satisfaction. The Loss Prevention Team often collaborates with external partners, including law enforcement agencies, private investigators, and security vendors, to enhance security measures and investigate incidents. The composition and structure of a Loss Prevention Team can vary depending on the size and industry of the organization.
