The Fall Youth Mentor and After-School Tutoring program offers a supportive and enriching learning experience for newcomer middle, high school and out of school young people living in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland. The purpose of the program is to support newcomer youth with academic and career readiness, helping them explore college pathways, build financial literacy, set goals, and connect with resources.
This Fall, we are seeking dedicated mentors for two programs:
High School Youth Mentorship (Ages 15–18)
- Format: Virtual/Hybrid
- Schedule: Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 4:45–6:15 PM
- Duration: 10 weekly sessions
- Start Date: Week of September 22, 2025
- Additional Opportunities: Optional 1–3 in-person field trips in D.C., Baltimore, or local counties
Out-of-School Youth Mentorship (Ages 19–24)
- Format: In-Person/Hybrid
- Schedule: Flexible (Monday–Friday)
- Duration: 12 weekly sessions
- Start Date: Week of September 22, 2025
Mentors will help youth explore postsecondary options, career pathways, and personal goals, while also providing encouragement and connection to community resources.
Mentors are required to complete a background check and attend a mandatory training on September 18th, 2025. Please note this training date is also the final deadline to sign up for the program.
We welcome students from all academic backgrounds who are passionate about education, mentorship, and social impact. No prior experience is required—training and ongoing support will be provided by IRC staff.
