Sustainability Internship Scholarship

The Sustainability Internship Scholarship will help off-set expenses associated with an unpaid internship.  Scholarship awards ranging from $500-$1,500 are available to help offset expenses.

Eligibility

  • The internship must be related to sustainability or with an organization that aligns with the UN’s organization aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Registered UMD undergraduate students returning to campus for fall 2004. May 2024 graduating seniors are not eligible.
  • A secured summer unpaid internship with a nonprofit or government agency.
  • Supervised by a professional in the field.
  • All class years are welcome to apply.

This scholarship is made possible through a partnership between UMD’s Student Government Association, Office of Sustainability and the University Career Center & The President’s Promise.

Bright Futures Initiative: ‘Unpaid Internship’ Scholarship

The Bright Futures Initiative awards students with need-based scholarships ranging from $100-$1,000 to help offset expenses incurred during unpaid internships.

To be eligible students must:

  • be registered UMD undergraduate students returning to campus for fall 2024
  • have secured an unpaid on-campus and off-campus internship with a non-profit organization or government agency for summer 2024
  • have secured a new internship experience during summer 2024 and completed by the start of the fall 2024 semester
  • be supervised by a professional in the field.

CCJS J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Scholarship

The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation established the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Leadership Scholarship in June 2016 to provide merit-based scholarships for students in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. It is the donor’s preference that this scholarship be awarded to students who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement and have demonstrated leadership qualities.

Multiple scholarships ($1,500 each) will be awarded to high achieving CCJS rising juniors and seniors. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of demonstrated strength in CCJS coursework, merit, and leadership ability. Preference will be given to students who have an interest in and are eligible for law enforcement careers.  Recipients of the scholarships will be recognized in the College’s annual Scholarship Recognition Program Booklet, shared with BSOS Donors.

Applicants for the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Leadership Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • Declared as a CCJS major
  • Rising junior or senior standing for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Will register as a full-time student for the Fall 2024 semester and in good academic standing
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 for all colleges/universities attended
  • Students must have completed at least 12 credits of coursework at the University of Maryland
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities
  • U.S. Citizen

The following materials must be submitted to complete your scholarship application:

  1. Transcript (official or unofficial) – Student’s cumulative GPA from the University of Maryland will be considered
  2. Resume (1-2 pages) – please include expected graduation date
  3. Short Bio (250 words or less) – Include year of study, major, other activities relevant to scholarship and professional activities
  4. Short Answer (1-2 pages) – Specifying career and academic goals

2024 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Pre-Law Scholarship | Wiley Law

In furtherance of our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession, Wiley is pleased to announce the Pre-Law Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion scholarship for 2024. The scholarship provides an entry-level paralegal position in the firm’s paralegal program, reimbursement for LSAT preparation and exam costs (up to $2,500) and a $10,000 scholarship award that can be used to support costs associated with enrollment in a JD program.

The Voyager Scholarship, administered by the Obama Foundation and supported by AIRBNB founder Brian Chesky, supports students planning careers in public service by providing up to $50,000 for college costs and transformative travel experiences.

The Voyager Scholarship is for students who are Sophomores in Spring 2024, who have demonstrated financial need, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and plan to pursue careers in public service.

Benefits of the Voyager Scholarship:

  • Financial aid up to $50,000: Students will receive up to $25,000 per year in “last dollar” financial aid to cover remaining tuition and/or living costs for their junior and senior years of college.

  • Students will design their own summer voyage between their junior and senior year of college with a budget of $10,000.

  • 10-year travel stipends: After graduation, Airbnb will provide the students with a $2,000 travel credit every year for 10 years, totaling $20,000.

  • Access to annual Summit Meetings

Eligibility: to apply for Voyager Scholarships students must:

  • Demonstrate financial need (as determined by FAFSA)
  • Be finishing their sophomore year in Spring 2024
  • Plan to enroll full-time as a junior in Fall 2024. 
  • Have four (4) semesters or six (6) quarters of full-time academic coursework remaining before graduating
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent
  • Have demonstrated a commitment to public service
  • Plan to pursue a career in public service upon graduation
  • Be a United States (U.S.) citizen, U.S. permanent resident (holder of a Permanent Resident Card), or an individual granted deferred action status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA).
