GIS Mapping Volunteer Role with the UN

The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) in Afghanistan is looking for help:

We are seeking a volunteer to support the generation of GIS-based maps showcasing the organization’s basic human needs (BHN) activities across Afghanistan. This role involves working with tools like Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS, or QGIS to create data-driven visualizations. It’s a great opportunity for students to:

  • Apply their GIS and data analysis skills to a meaningful international cause.
  • Gain valuable experience contributing to development efforts.
  • Enhance their CV with UN-related experience.

The position is remote, unpaid, and requires a part-time commitment of 6–10 hours per week for 12 weeks. Volunteers will receive a certificate of appreciation upon successful completion.

NPS Internship-Plan Management

We are seeking 4 Invasive Plant Management Individual Placements who will work on a field crew to control invasive plant species with mechanical and chemical control methods at sites throughout the National Capital Region. 

This 40-week internship runs from Feb. 10th, 2025 to Nov. 14th, 2025 and is based out of Washington, D.C. Since housing is not provided, we are seeking candidates within a commutable distance to the D.C. office. Since this is a full-time internship, we are seeking alumni and recent grads with experience in field work. 

This position pays $600/week and the intern will also receive a $4,826.50 AmeriCorps Segal Education award upon successful completion that can be used to pay back federal student loans or for additional schooling.
