Sustainability Internship Scholarship

Application Opens: Monday, February 10, 2025

Application Closes: Monday, March 3, 2025

The Sustainability Internship Scholarship will help offset expenses associated with an unpaid internship.  Scholarship awards ranging from $500-$1,500 are available to help offset expenses.

The internship must be related to sustainability or with an organization that aligns with the UN’s organization aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

A secured unpaid internship with a nonprofit or government agency that is supervised by a professional in the field.

  • Open to undergraduate or graduate students, and faculty!
  • Approved Gen Ed course for Cultural Competence credits. 

This study abroad course (3 credits) is designed to expand students’ vision of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education through the lenses of sustainability and culture. Students will engage in transdisciplinary work to support culturally-responsive solutions for challenges in the local, environmental and socio-cultural context. Students will explore the significant role that STEAM plays in relation to the sustainability of Ecuadorian culture and local environment through their immersion in Ecuadorian social agencies, such as the Ecuadorian educational system, and through students’ engagement in corresponding service-learning projects. Students will develop a deeper level of cultural competence gaining a better understanding of themselves and the diverse contexts in which students will be immersed.
