Most of our group arrived this weekend in Sao Paolo, where we began with a brief tour of the city on Saturday.

Prof. Prochno and our guides showed us the Municipal Market, one of Sao Paolo’s frequented landmarks, where visitors can pick up groceries from countless vendors or sit down for a famous mortadella sandwich.

We also stopped by Vila Madalena, a neighborhood featuring trendy restaurants and Beco do Batman (“Batman’s Alley”), famous for its graffiti. On Sunday, a few of us took the opportunity to further explore the city, including a visit to the Japanese neighborhood of Liberdade and a stroll through upscale Rua Oscar Freire, before dinner at a Brazilian churrascaria.
