Spring Break in Egypt

Hey Everyone!

For spring break I decided to go to Cairo, Egypt. My roommate is actually Egyptian and she was coming to Egypt to visit her family for spring break. She invited us to come, so my roommates and I asked our parents if we could come and surprisingly they said yes! There is nothing better than traveling with a local that knows what he/she is doing.

Egypt is amazing. I have learned so many new and different things. I think that this is the most different country that I have been to thus far. I feel that european countries are all very similar, so coming here was very eye opening and different. Yesterday we went to the desert and went camelback riding. I never realized how tall the camels were. It was actually kind of scary because at one point we were right next to a coach bus and were head to head with the people on the bus.

We have had so much amazing food. I never realized how much I like arabic/middle eastern food. It is so good. My favorite thing that I have had has been “schwarma,” which is basically pulled chicken. We have eaten so much food. It is also interesting because their eating times are so different. They have breakfast around 2pm, then lunch around 5-6pm, and dinner at around 10:30pm. Usually I eat earlier so I can space out my meals, so here, I get VERY full.

My roommate has a ton of friends and family that lives here so we have been meeting a lot of locals and hanging out with them. It is very cool to see how people differ from country to country

I am so excited to see the rest of Egypt this week!
