Cities and Cliffs

So many trips, so little time.

The past several weeks have been the most hectic and fun in my entire life! With my time abroad dwindling, I’ve been trying to see and experience as much as possible here in Europe. In the past few weeks I’ve been to Paris, Madrid, Edinburgh, and Rome in-between studying for finals of course. Each city boasted it’s own unique culture, from Madrid’s tapas to Paris’ plethora of museums to Edinburgh’s proud clan history, I loved getting to know each through meeting locals, sampling food, and wandering through the streets. While each city is unique, there’s been an overwhelming amount of kindness from the locals! Europeans are so kind and inclusive, probably because it’s so diverse over here.

Everyone back home has been asking what my favorite city is, but it’s so hard to pick just one! Ironically, I think the moment that has made the biggest impact on me has been outside of a city in the Scottish Highlands. While I identify as a urbanite, I grew up in a country landscape, however nothing could prepare me for the breathtaking snow toped mountains and lush green fields. After spending the last several months visiting man-made masterpieces, it’s funny that nature’s wonders were so remarkable. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to snap a picture of the Loch Ness monster, apparently if you manage to you’re in for a million dollar payday, but I loved learning about the history of the land. I’ll definitely be making plans to come back and hike the West Highland Way, a 96 mile walking path that stretches from Glasgow to Fort William. Maybe I’m more of a country mouse than I give myself credit for.
