Back in the States

Spending time back in Maryland at the Pretty Boy Dam in Baltimore County

It’s been over a week since I returned from Australia and I am just about recovered from the jet lag, so I thought it would be an appropriate time to reflect on my stay and my past week in the States.

It has been a very strange week for me back at home. Firstly, I cannot manage to stay up past 10 P.M. every night because I am constantly exhausted. But I have noticed little changes around my town that have thrown me off a bit, such as new stores and roads. But what’s most startling are the little changes I have noticed in my friends. For the most part everyone is the same, but there are small changes in their mannerisms. Everyone seems like they have aged a bit. Also, I never quite realized how humid Maryland was until now. Its much easier on the body to withstand the humidity when you’re able to adjust to it slowly, but coming from the chilly winter of Melbourne I was not prepared for the summer here at all.

Looking back on my time in Australia I truly appreciate the experience I had. I was able to explore an entirely new country and meet people from all around the world. I have bee keeping in touch with a lot of my international friends and hopefully future opportunities will allow us to reconnect again.
