Der Rhein

Burg Eltz

Der Rhein is the largest river in all of Germany and I coincidentally live on it.  The Middle Rhein Valley has one of the largest castle/square km ratios in the entire world. That is one ratio that you don’t see very often! However, up until the beginning of April, I had overlooked the Rheinland, primarily because of the cold weather and dead trees. I instead traveled to other German metropolises or foreign cities such as Prague and Paris. But spring has finally sprung here in the Rhein. Cherry blossoms have bloomed, the trees are FINALLY green, and the sun has come out and shone upon us warm 60 degree days.  So I have been solo trekking around the Rhein valley for the past few weeks and it has been absolutely wonderful. I have seen the gorgeous countryside, countless castles, and have walked and talked through many villages.  In the photo above, I show my favorite German castle, the Burg Eltz. It took me two hours to hike up there and every moment was worth it.
