Japan Singapore – Projects and Tourists!

The past few months have opened my eyes to business cultures in countries around the world.  In both Japan and Singapore there is a different business culture as far as we have read and been told and I look forward to seeing that in person.  From the very structured and regimented expectations in Japan to the extremely entrepreneurial attitude in Singapore.  The formal schedule was published for our trip this week so we will have the opportunity to see business run in both Japan and Singapore.

Something that popped out to me was the Panasonic visit to their customer experience center.  I imagine this will be focused on all customers including international customers so I am interested to see how a Japanese based company presents to customers of all kinds.

The other meeting that popped out to me was Singapore Airlines.  Specifically the note about visiting a successful local airline jumped out because from my perspective I have seen a lot of publicity in the US around Singapore Airlines so I don’t think of it as local.  Also while looking at flights from Japan to Singapore the Singapore Airlines flights was extremely expensive and comparable with Japan Airlines which is a well known airline.  I wonder how they see and position themselves in the local and international airline business.

Finally, I am looking forward to the cultural visits and the food!  I have never been to Asia so the history in these countries is completely different than what I have seen before.  The temples in Japan plus the metropolitan shopping and fashion are completely different than the US and Europe.  Seeing the historical and current cultural norms in a country are some of my favorite things about traveling.  Singapore appears to be opulent.  The unique sights including Marina Bay, the airport, the Garden by the Bay and much more these man-made or man-enhanced attractions seem to display the wealth in Singapore.

I can’t believe we are just over a month away!  There are seem to be so many things to do between now and then but I think it will fly by.  I still have more planning and research to do but that may never be done as there are endless possibilities!
