A curious mind ready to embark on a week long journey in Singapore and Taiwan
My name is Fanny Wu and I am a junior Marketing major. On January 7th I will have the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program to Singapore and Taiwan. I love to travel and experience different cultures. To say that I am excited is a complete understatement. Every day I have been checking off the date on my calendar counting down the days one by one till my 20 hour flight to Singapore. I am more than grateful and fortunate to be given this opportunity to study abroad in Singapore and Taiwan as I am very aware that many students do not get the chance to study in a different country.
Ever since I started college as a freshman, studying abroad was always in my mind. Getting outside the four walls of a classroom will allow me to see the world from a different perspective. Not only that but incorporating what I learn in the classroom to the real world will provide me with the hands on experience I need upon graduating. Going to all the site visits and listening to what guest speakers have to say about their corporation will be very beneficial and insightful.
There certainly will be a cultural shock but I am open minded in learning about what Singapore and Taiwan have to offer. I am exhilarated to be apart of the hustle and bustle culture of these busy cities. As a big foodie, I am stocked to taste all the different authentic cuisines and famous dishes to the countries.
Finally some thoughts I would like to take away after the exposure to these two different cities in Asia are knowing the cultural differences from the United States as well as what makes a big corporation so successful.
To capture these once in a lifetime moments I will be taking loads of pictures and videos of my classmates, professors, site visits, and of course the beauty of each country.
