Off We Go!

Hello Everyone! My name is Jamila Spears and I am a senior supply chain management major at Smith. This winter semester I am very excited to be traveling to Peru and Panama for the supply chain management study abroad. Studying abroad has been a goal of mine since my freshman year and when I saw that there was a study abroad specific to my major and in countries that I have dreamed of going to, I had to jump at the opportunity. Studying abroad is a good way to set yourself apart from other candidates whether you are applying for internships or full time; the experience is one of a kind!

I am very excited to not only learn about the business and maritime operations in both Panama and Peru, but to also jump headfirst into the different cultures. Whether it be practicing the language, trying new foods or listening to the music and learning dances, I hope to soak up every experience and make myself or more well-rounded person by the end of the trip. I hope that when I return, I will have a different point of view of supply chain management and eagerness to share my experiences. I am very appreciative of this opportunity and can’t wait to keep you all updated!
