Spain: All About Gaudí
This day in Barcelona was centered around Antoni Gaudí, a well-renowned architect who is seen to be very influential in the Spanish/Catalonian culture. His work is regarded to be well ahead of his time. His biggest project – a church named “La Sagrada Familia,” is his life’s work, being in construction well after his death.
La Sagrada Familia is a breathtaking piece of architecture. So much of Gaudí’s style was implemented to this passion project. Every little detail had a meaning and a reason to be part of the church. His passion for nature and his heavy religious affiliation with Catholicism drove him to create the amazing structure. This massive church was Gaudí’s own gift to God.
One of the biggest takeaways for me was realizing how your passions can have the ability to influence or change the world. Gaudí lived and breathed his architecture, giving his work a lot of attention and care. As a result, he was able to develop his own unique style of architecture that is well known around Spain and across the globe. This type of passion is very inspirational for young people like myself because it proves that if you have the drive, anything is possible.
