Cape Town – A Once in a Lifetime Experience

My name is Ayanna Wright and I’m a senior Marketing and English double major. On January 3rd, I’ll be traveling to Cape Town, South Africa with Dean Mullins and Jeanette Snider to study social innovation and entrepreneurship in the modern South African context. Everyone who has gone on this trip previously has said it’s been life changing and I look forward to experiencing the beauty of Cape Town for myself. From the rich history and culture to the scenery and learning experiences I know this trip will be unlike any other.

When talking to my cohort members before the trip we all asked each other to name the one thing we were looking forward to the most. We quickly realized that none of us could name just one thing, there are too many things to look forward to. When I was asked, I stated that I was looking forward to going on a safari, Seven Sisters Vineyards, Table Mountain, and Boulders Beach Penguin. Each experience offers something unique to Cape Town.

What everyone says makes this experience so special is the experiences that come from being open and vulnerable and really getting to know the people in Cape Town. Once there I plan to be open to new experiences so I can get the most out of this once in a lifetime study abroad opportunity and bring what I learn with me back home. I look forward to what I will learn and the self-reflection I will have.
