Manchester: Getting oriented and exploring Europe
Today marks my third week in Manchester. I am studying Finance and Marketing at the business school at University of Manchester. I decided to go abroad without any of my friends and was very worried about my upcoming semester before I left. However, I have been having the best time. The nice thing about Manchester is it is similar too DC, except the public transportation is a little better and it is less political and more artistic. So far I have been to a Milky Chance concert and next week I am going to see Cage The Elephant. The music scene is really cool here. I have randomly found places around town that have live music and cool art.
When going abroad I recommend you think about what you want out of your experience. Consider whether you want a big city atmosphere, if you want to go see a lot of alternative concerts or EDM concerts, if you want to travel every weekend, is it easy to travel from that location, if you want to go with a big group of friends or none. These are all things I considered before I chose Manchester, and I have to say that Manchester fits me really well. It has everything I like to do. I have met people that want to travel every weekend. I have traveled to Edinburgh and Paris and today I leave for London. Next week I am planning on going to Switzerland to ski! I found people here who want to go to all those places with me, look through museums, thrift, go to concerts, and more.
The nice thing about Manchester is that I never feel out of place, everyone is friendly, and it is cheaper then London. I highly recommend studying here! I really have been enjoying my time so far!
The first picture is from Ancoats, a really cool area in Manchester that looks like its from Brooklyn. The other picture is of really cool cows known as Hairy Coos from Scotland!
