How to Solo Travel
Studying abroad can be an overwhelming experience and if you find yourself feeling the need to escape – it’s time for a solo trip. Whether it be to a nearby town or a completely different country, a solo trip is my #1 recommendation for escaping the fast-paced lifestyle of studying abroad. Keep reading for tips on how I solo travel!
If you don’t already have a place in mind, Google Flights will become your BFF. While on incognito/private mode, go to Google Flights and input the airport you’ll be flying out of and the dates you want to travel (or do flexible dates) BUT don’t fill in the “Where to?” section. After this, hit enter and you’ll discover countless cheap flights for various locations. Google Flights will tell you if a flight is too expensive, relatively cheap, or if different dates are cheaper. After selecting your flight, research hotels, and book. I know we’re all students trying to ball out on a budget, but please don’t compromise your safety by staying in a shady hotel or less-than-secure area for the sake of saving money. But my pro-tip for a safe way to save money is searching your preferred dates on Expedia’s “Bundle and Save” tab.
When you get to your destination, visit popular sights, do some local fun stuff, eat great food, and connect with even greater people. When it comes to safety, practice normal safety precautions, never go out alone after dark, and don’t tell social media or anyone you meet there that you are alone. And for all my self-proclaimed influencers, purchase a tripod with a Bluetooth clicker so you can pop-off on the ‘gram. (Mine was ~$20 from Amazon & 110% worth it.) My personal motto is “Book now, plan later.” So book that trip, make new friends, and live your best life — solo style!

You are an inspiration to young generation and many young children to follow. You have a mind and skills of a matured adult. I like the bit of safety first and never telling anyone or any stranger that you are travelling alone. Enjoy your study abroad and explore as much as possible. Will definitely catch your tip about cheap flights on Expedia. Enjoy!!
