¡Adiós España!
Back home after almost two weeks in Spain! The second half of our trip we spent in Madrid and it was a stark difference from Barcelona. I enjoyed the slow pace in Barcelona but Madrid was fast paced and it was harder to communicate because almost no one spoke English.
I really enjoyed applying everything I learned about in Barcelona to places in Madrid. Timeless design, biomimicry, and physical/logical/emotional designs were seen across Madrid. We learned how to empathize with the locals through conversations at a local market, and take a cooking class to learn about their signature dish- paella! We ended our trip with a bike ride in the Madrid Rio Park where we saw how the city moved it’s highways underground to create parks and recreational space and I was fascinated by how integrated and how everything was done purposefully. Spain had a way of taking the beauty of nature and applied it to buildings and architecture seen across the country.
I really enjoyed my time in Spain and took away valuable knowledge on Design Thinking. I hope to be back soon!
