Time Commitment: Flexible (flexible 8–10 hrs/week)

Role Summary
Julie Yang for District 1 is seeking motivated, community-minded interns to support a people-powered campaign in Montgomery County, Maryland. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn the fundamentals of political campaigning while building practical, transferable skills in voter contact, outreach, and field operations. Interns will play an important role in day-to-day campaign work and gain exposure to the tools and strategies that win elections (including VAN). Strong performers may be considered for future roles on campaigns and in related civic or political work.


What You’ll Do
Intern responsibilities may include:
● Canvass: Engage in conversations with District 1 voters
● Voter Outreach: Phone banking, text banking, canvassing support, and event outreach
● Field Support: Helping recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for voter contact shifts
● Community Engagement: Assisting at community events, collecting feedback, and helping strengthen relationships with local stakeholders

● How to use VAN and manage voter contact data
● Volunteer organizing and shift coordination
● Political communications fundamentals and message discipline
● How local campaigns operate and how elections are won at the precinct level
