In recognition of International Education Week 2025, the Center for Global Business invites the UMD community to reflect on, recognize, and celebrate the importance of global experience and international education and their impact on careers, economic enterprise, business innovation, and cross-cultural competence.

Throughout the week, the Center will host events that connect students to global employers and opportunities for global experience, and highlight the role of international education and global expertise in creating global economic impact and building a more interconnected world.

Monday, November 17

Global Strategy Case Workshop
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM | Van Munching Hall | Room 2333
In collaboration with Logistics, Business, and Public Policy Professor Jon Crocker, this hands-on workshop will teach students how to strategize, analyze and best present global business cases in a competition environment. Past winning teams will share their best practices on teamwork, strategy, delivery, and storytelling. Open to all students. Pizza will be served. Register today.

Tuesday, November 18

Careers Crossing Borders: The Mini Roundtable on Careers in Global Fashion

5:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Van Munching Hall | Room 2333

In collaboration with the Smith School’s Fashion Business Association and International Business Association, the third event of the Careers Crossing Borders series this year will showcase global fashion professionals who will share their career journeys, essential skills for success, and perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in the field. After the panel, join mini roundtables for small-group conversations where you can ask questions, gain practical insights, build connections, and explore potential career opportunities in global fashion. U.S. Business Needs Survey Brown Bag Discussion

Join Academic Director of CGB and Research Professor at the Smith School of Business, Kislaya Prasad, for a discussion on the outcomes of the 2024 U\.S\. Business Needs for Employees with International Expertise Survey and ReportThis study, co-authored by Prasad, was supported by the 16 Title VI Centers for International Business Education across the country. Undergraduates: Learn about the Summer Global Internship program. Receive six credits while interning abroad this Summer.

International Business Student Organization (IBSO) IB Trek
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Off-Site 

In collaboration with IBSO, visit companies with global operations and learn about concepts in international business while highlighting the Baltimore area. The trek will depart from VMH and return to VMH. Open to undergraduate and graduate students. Visits include Under Armour and Ellicott Dredges. Additional visit and timing TBD.
