Interested in taking a course that teaches you how to enhance your skills related to social justice and identity understanding? Want to learn how to better lead and facilitate conversations related to identity, justice, and hot topic societal issues?
WEID300 is designed to introduce students to the skills and social justice frameworks needed to effectively facilitate group interactions across and within identity differences. Students who participate in the course will learn the skills to move a conversation forward beyond just a discussion. Foundational facilitation skills that will be covered include active listening, asking questions, differentiating between dialogue and debate, developing community expectations, bridging differences that arise in dialogue, negotiation, and more.
Completion of this course can lead to PAID facilitation opportunities with the Common Ground Dialogue Program and Words of Engagement Intergroup Dialogue Program. Students can apply here – go.umd.edu/weid300app by Monday, April 22nd.
