2 Major Changes to Berkshire Hathaway’s Portfolio in Third Quarter

After the market closed on November 14, Berkshire Hathaway filed its SEC Form 13F revealing its equity investments as of September 30, 2023.

There were two major changes in Berkshire’s equity portfolio during the third quarter:

(1) Berkshire sold its remaining $800 million stake in General Motors. It had previously reduced its stake during the first and second quarters of 2023.

(2) Berkshire requested “confidential treatment” on the purchase of one or more equity investments. Its previously filed 10Q for the third quarter indicated the purchase of $1.2 billion of one or more financial stocks.
