The Boren Fellowship now offers Full Funding for a newly launched Master of Professional Studies in Persian degree program at the University of Maryland. Applications are now open for Fall 2026!

This one-year degree program (domestic, on campus at UMD College Park) is designed for students with intermediate high/advanced proficiency in Persian and want to reach professional-level fluency towards their career or research goals.

Undergraduate UMD students with little or no background in Persian who would like to start or continue learning the language and apply after they complete their undergraduate degree programs can do so right here on campus through the Persian Flagship Program (PFP).

Boren Fellowship applicants to the program must be US citizens, have a bachelor’s degree, and be committed to public service & national security. Students interested in the Boren funding opportunity should apply to both UMD and Boren concurrently.

Join us for a webinar on Wednesday, November 19th at 2:30pm EST to learn more about the Master of Professional Studies in Persian at UMD and the Boren Fellowship.
